Yeah, gas stoves are nice. I'm lusting over the induction hybrid stovetops right now... if I had all the money in the world!! (well, then I'd just get a cook! lol)
Most newer gas stoves don't have to be lit...ours didn't. But this coil top electric crap is for the birds. It cooks unevenly, the pot/pan won't sit level and when you turn the heat off it's not just off like with gas - it has to cool down. UGH! Makes me mad just talking about it...lol. jk

Funny, I'm the opposite! I hate the smell of gas and lighting the thing.
